About Hawdren

A UK company that builds software people can live with

We design, ship and support products for specialist organisations — the kind of work that does not fit a generic spreadsheet.

Training experience, collaborative product development and dependable software connected as one company journey.
Hawdren
“Software should sound like the work it supports — not the database underneath it.”

What drives us

Who we are

A small team with operational roots

Hawdren started from practical experience supporting a busy operation — and the frustration of watching good teams lose hours to admin that should have been straightforward.

That first product was for a training centre. The lesson was wider: specialist organisations need software written in the language of their work, and a team close enough to keep improving it.

Today we design and build products including Afanor, for UK training teams, and Arhosfa, for the places that look after animals. We stay close to the people who use what we ship — that is how we decide what to build next.

What we stand for

Principles we will not compromise on

These ideas shape our products, our writing, and the way we work with customers.

Clarity over cleverness

We explain what we build in plain language. If a busy administrator would not recognise the words, they should not be on the screen.

Close to the work

Software improves when the people using it every week can reach the team behind it. We stay close enough to help when the work changes.

Built to last

Specialist organisations depend on accurate records and reliable communications. We design for trust, auditability and long-term operation.

Our journey

Experience that shows in the products

Hawdren did not appear overnight. Our history is rooted in operational software, product craft and the organisations we serve.

  1. 2012

    The first system

Our first operational product was built for a local training centre — the daily work of courses, learners and keeping a centre running. That closeness to real work has shaped everything since.

  2. 2012–2018

    In live use

That first system stayed in use for years. Supporting a real operation taught us what software has to get right when people rely on it every day.

  3. 2019–2022

    Rebuilding from experience

We rebuilt around what actually happens in busy organisations — including assessment in the same system as the rest of the work — while the earlier product stayed in daily use.

  4. 2025

    A new platform

We started again from the ground up, on new technology, so the next generation of products could be offered more widely as software-as-a-service.

  5. August 2026

    Hawdren Ltd

Hawdren Ltd was formed, putting a company around the products, the craft and the team behind them.

  6. 2026

    A product company

Hawdren now ships more than one product — Afanor for training teams, Arhosfa for pet care — each built for a specialist kind of work, and each meant to be lived with every day.
